July 13, 2019 I was browsing on Facebook when I noticed some familiar name of someone I've been following on YouTube for the past 3 or 4 years and he was currently passing through a little Bavarian town called Frankenmuth with a group of cyclists. His name is Johnny Lam who has his You Tube channel called Milestone Rides and is also a Bike Tour Leader for Adventure Cycling Association. He was on tour with 16 cyclist from Maine, riding from Maine to the state of Washington following the Northern Tier route with a ride through Michigan.
I tried contacting him on Facebook and messenger, finally got back with me the next day. They were following Route M-20 bike route, which starts in Marine City and goes to Ludington, 300 miles total. They took a detour to head north to get to the U.P. and cross over to Wisconsin to pick up the Northern Tier route.
I ended up meeting him in Manistee, left right from work at 7 am and was up there by 9:30 am. I ended up doing a little bike riding around the State Park there before meeting up with Johnny, he had a previous appointment and couldn't meet up till 11 am. We met for lunch, had an awesome conversation and for me it was a once in a lifetime experience to meet someone like this.
