It's out of the box and on the stand. The build begins and still have a lot of parts to get, but this is the bike I've wanted for a long time. The reason of getting this frame now, is that there were major changes made to the frame in 2017. There were no changes made to the 2018 Troll frames, so I got a NEW 2018 frame set. Since I love building bikes, I decided to build it instead of buying it completed. There will different variations as the built goes on, like I will be installing rim brakes first, then eventually transition to mechanical disc brakes.
Installed 02-Mar-2018: Origin8 400 mm Seat Post
All Shimano "Alivio" drive-train components: Bottom Bracket, Crank-Set, Front Derailleur, Rear Derailleur, 9-speed Chain and 9-speed Rapid Fire Shifters.
Installed 03-Mar-2018: Bottom Bracket, Crank-set, Front and Rear Derailleur
Ordered: Generic Adjustable Stem and Cane Creek Head-set.
07-Mar-2018: Cane Creek Headset arrived 5 days early.
Installed the Cane Creek Headset, Surly Fork, Origin8 Stem Extender and Shimano V-Brakes (for now).
17-Mar-2018: Stem arrived today, installed the stem, handlebars with brake levers, shifters, grips and bar ends. Sized the chain and installed it, also sized and installed the brake and shifting cables with housings.
18-Mar-2018: Had to steel the wheelset and pedals off my Giant mountain bike and the seat off my Specialized Comfort bike and then install them on the Troll in order to make the cables to the correct length, fit the bike to me (seat height, handlebars etc...). I then adjusted the brakes, cut the cables, adjusted the derailleurs and trimmed the cables. All and all the it shifts and rides like a dream. I then ordered a seat, tubes, tires and pedals today.
